Bina is amazing – I haven’t been to acupuncture for a few years and was nervous about going to someone new – but Bina is so gentle, thoughtful, and careful. It has been one of the the most relaxing experiences I have had with any non-traditional medicines. I highly recommend Bina to anyone thinking about acupuncture. — Diane K.

Pain

Berkeley Acupuncture
Wether your pain is acute or chronic, living with pain can be debilitating.  Unlike pain medication and cortisone shots which only mask the issue, Acupuncture gets to the root of the problem and can heal the source of the pain.  How does Acupuncture do this?
First, acupuncture releases endorphins. These natural pain killers block pain sensation and reduce nerve inflammation without the harmful side effects of opiate drugs. The best part about Endorphins is that they produce a sense of well-being  and calm which can help to reduce stress.
Secondly, Acupuncture increases circulation and relaxes muscles.  It helps microcirculation, inside and outside the cells, allowing for a healthier cellular state to exist. It increases blood flow to the muscles and breaks the cycle of muscle spasms.

Lastly, Acupuncture breaks up scar tissue and helps healing.  Post surgical acupuncture stimulates blood flow to the site of the scar, promotes healing to the injured area and decreases the buildup of scar tissues.
From a Classical Chinese Medical perspective, Pain is the blockage of chi — vital energy.  These obstructions of vital energy in one part of the body creates a dam-like effect, restricting flow to other areas. Acupuncture unblocks the obstructions and increases the normal flow of energy through the channels relieving pain and restoring balance to the body systems.
